JOB TITLE: Volunteer Strength & Conditioning Coach

REPORTS TO: Head Football Coach

PRIMARY FUNCTION: 

The Volunteer Strength & Conditioning Coach is responsible for assisting the Strength & Conditioning Coordinator. The Volunteer Strength & Conditioning Coach supports and develops the Strength & Conditioning Coordinator’s Program. The Volunteer Strength & Conditioning Coach should focus on improving athletic performance, teaching proper technique, and reducing athletic injuries. All training plans will be overseen by the Strength & Conditioning Coordinator for proper scientific principles, supervising of training sessions, and evaluation of student-athletes. The Volunteer Strength & Conditioning Coach will meet weekly with the coaching staff and athletic trainers to determine what are the best exercises, stretches, and recovery methods to ensure optimal growth for our student-athletes.


REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Knowledge of the rules and policies of the NCAA.
  • Exceptional organization, communication skills, and time management.
  • Ability to work effectively in a stressful and demanding environment.
  • Ability to work effectively with student-athletes, coaches, athletic trainers, college personnel, parents, and alumni.

EDUCATION:                      A Bachelor’s degree required.
                                             A Strength & Conditioning Certification is required. 
EXPERIENCE:                      Prior playing experience or prior coaching experience.
Current certification in first aid, CPR and AED.


ESSENTIAL DUTIES:

As pertains to the Volunteer Strength & Conditioning Coach
 
  • Assists in designing and implementing the strength & conditioning programs for in-season, off-season, and pre-season.
 
  • Assist in designing and implementing policies and procedures for the strength & conditioning program.
 
  • Work in cooperation with the sports medicine and athletic training staff in the rehabilitation and strengthening of injured athletes.
 
  • Assist in scheduling all strength & conditioning programs.
 
  • Assists in all multimedia efforts for strength & conditioning program; includes social media posting and photos.
 
  • Ensuring effective communication and working relationships among the coaching staff, sports medicine staff, and strength & conditioning coordinator.


OTHER DUTIES:

1.            Serves on committees of the College, as requested.

2.            Carries out special projects and responsibilities as directed by the Athletic Director and President.
