DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Perform and/or provide direction and support for the following services:

  • Receive / render shift report to outgoing / incoming shift
  • Collaborate with inter/intra departmental personnel within the shelter (e.g. all medical staff, mental health providers, case managers) to enhance UAC plan of care
  • Assists with the managing of daily medical operations and prioritizing tasks.
  • Accurate documentation in UAC medical record, Medication administration record, SharePoint, and UAC portal according to training guidelines
  • Shall demonstrate proficiency in the use of basic word processing programs and the Acuity Medical Management System software.
  • Utilizes Acuity International computer to access e-mail, electronic documentation, and other job specific requirements.
  • Complies with all applicable ACuity standards and guidelines.
  • Attends and participates in a variety of meetings and task force groups to improve quality and outcomes, communicate issues, obtain approvals, resolve problems and maintain specific level of knowledge pertaining to new developments, new task efforts, and new policy requirements.
  • Perform initial clinic sick visit assessment (may consult medical provider as needed)
  • Collaborates with Medical Provider to devise individualized care plans for UAC
  • UAC medication administration and immunization administration in accordance with standard operating procedures
  • SIR documentation and submission
  • Provide emergency medical and first aid care to UACs under supervision of medical providers
  • Coordinate with Charge Nurse and Operations for the transfer of UAC to alternate clinics within the shelter and offsite locations
  • Perform pharmacy inventory each shift
  • Assures quality of care by adhering to therapeutic standards; measuring health outcomes against standards; making or recommending necessary adjustments; following standards of care set by state board of nursing, state nurse practice act, and other governing agency regulations.
  • Perform lice / scabies assessment and intervention
  • Assist Charge Nurse with Coordination of UAC hospital transfers, submission of TARs for Hospital transfers, dentist, and/or optometrist specialties.
  • Maintains safe and clean working environment by complying with procedures, rules, and regulations; calling for assistance from health care support personnel as needed.
  • Protects UAC and employees by adhering to infection-control policies and protocols, medication administration and storage procedures.
  • Maintains UAC's health care status confidential.
  • Maintains nursing supplies inventory by checking stock to determine inventory level; anticipating needed supplies; placing and expediting orders for supplies; verifying receipt of supplies; using equipment and supplies as needed to accomplish job results.
  • Attends and participates in a variety of meetings to improve quality and outcomes, communicate issues, obtain approvals, resolve problems and maintain specific level of knowledge pertaining to new developments, new task efforts, and new policy requirements.
  • Complies with all applicable Acuity International standards and guidelines.
  • Other duties as assigned

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Graduated from accredited Nursing school
  • Bachelor's degree in Nursing Preferred
  • Unrestricted licensed in the state of service
  • Fluent in English and Spanish (speak, read, and write)
  • Ability to explain treatments and conditions to adolescents in a manner and language in which they understand
  • Willingness to work flexible schedule and fill in when needed is strongly preferred.
  • Two years of clinical experience
  • Clinical experience with pediatrics or adolescent medicine preferred
  • Have and maintain current certification in Basic Life Support (BLS)
  • Experience with electronic medical records (EMR)
  • Clean criminal background check
  • Clean Child Abuse and Neglect (CA/N) or child protective services check
