Job Description

Team Description; Role function on team:

The Sr. Specialist, Data Quality and Data Governance is a data steward role, part of the Compliance Data Governance function for Financial Crimes. Data Stewards own content development and details underlying data contracts; they own the authoring ADS for FCC (Compliance); drive and perform research and resolution for data issues; develop strong relationships with line-of-business points of contact and technology partners; serve as a primary resource for management and oversight of FCC definition in EDM-defined toolsets (e.g., Collibra); will perform data lineage mapping; manage the associated issue management processes; implement/perform data quality definition, testing and validation; all within the bank's enterprise data management policies and standards. This role will work across teams to ensure our data standards are accomplished within defined time frames, owning the quality of the data content.

Responsibilities - External

  • Independently work with internal and external datasets and participate in the development of data and reporting solutions
  • Provide analytical project management support for assigned area
  • Ensure data lineage is accurately depicted in authoritative datasets (ADS)
  • Support and document data issues as encountered
  • Gather and maintain data quality requirements for FCC (Compliance)
  • Ensures milestones and deliverables are met, including completed and high-quality content
  • Analyze data to prepare summaries related to key outcomes (e.g., metrics, trend analysis, supporting commentary, etc.)
  • Create ad-hoc dashboards and participate on special projects as needed
  • Create and maintain associated procedures
  • Primarily responsible for the accuracy and quality of own work and the work of assigned and/or less experienced project team members. Work contributes to the achievement of area goals
  • Uses technology applications to conduct complex analyses; applies techniques such as SQL querying and macro development to extract data for populating models and presents to management
  • Translates complex technical concepts and analyses to non-technical audiences

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree or the equivalent combination of education and experience is required.
  • 3-5 experience in compliance, risk management, finance and/or banking technology, risk and/or compliance data is preferred.
  • Advanced data profiling experience utilizing SQL skill with financial industry experience. Experience with toolsets including Alteryx preferable
  • Superior analytical skills and ability to assess across large data sets to synthesize, validate, and analyze data and metrics in necessary. Project management experience with excellent analytical/problem solving skills, understanding risks and controls,
  • Technical proficiency with Excel, JIRA, MS Word, MS PowerPoint is needed. Technical skills in any of the following are helpful: Python, SQL, VBA, Collibra, Alteryx, Pentaho, Solidatus, and DCAM
  • Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communications skills to work closely with various businesses / functions and build relationships at all levels is required
  • A successful person in this role will be Pro-active, have high quality standards for accuracy and thoroughness, have an ability to multi-task, prioritize and thrive in a fast-paced and evolving environment, possess strong organizational skills and a keen aptitude for detail while working in a global team.

BNY Mellon assesses market data to ensure a competitive compensation package for our employees. The base salary for this position is expected to be between $77,750 and $133,000 per year at the commencement of employment. However, base salary if hired will be determined on an individualized basis, including as to experience and market location, and is only part of the BNYM total compensation package, which, depending on the position, may also include commission earnings, discretionary bonuses, short and long-term incentive packages, and Company-sponsored benefit programs.

This position is at-will and the Company reserves the right to modify base salary (as well as any other discretionary payment or compensation) at any time, including for reasons related to individual performance, change in geographic location, Company or individual department/team performance, and market factors.
