West Virginia University School of Medicine and the Department of Pediatrics seek a Pediatric Hospitalist (ranks available: Assistant Professor, Associate Professor, or Professor). The successful candidate will be expected to practice at Wheeling Hospital in Wheeling, WV and Reynolds Memorial Hospital in Glen Dale, WV.

Duties: The successful candidate will practice in the area of pediatric hospital medicine for the care of newborns for a level II special care nursery at Wheeling Hospital and a level ! nursery at Reynolds Memorial Hospital. The successful candidate will serve as the Medical Director for these units and will oversee care provided by advanced practice providers who will staff the level II nursery 24x7x365. APPs will be on call for the level I nursery similarly.

Qualifications: Candidate must have an MD or DO degree or foreign equivalent and be eligible for state medical license. Candidates must have completed an accredited pediatrics residency or a combined pediatrics residency/internal medicine-pediatrics residency, and be board certified / eligible in pediatrics. All qualifications must be met by the time of appointment.

Wheeling Hospital has 247 beds, and the medical staff totals 275 primary care and specialty physicians. In 2012, the facility opened Tower 5, a seven-story, state-of-the-art facility that features a new 23,000-square-foot Emergency/Trauma Center, a Center for Pediatrics, private patient rooms, as well as cardiovascular, surgical and medical intensive care units.

Reynolds Memorial Hospital in Glen Dale has 90 beds, including a 20-bed skilled nursing unit and has been providing quality care close to home for more than 100 years. Reynolds Memorial provides the Ohio Valley with the most advanced care when people are sick, and connects them with resources and access to preventative care to keep them healthy. Our full range of medical services keeps you close to home while you receive quality cancer care, cardiac and pulmonary care, orthopedic care, and much more.

Our new 150 bed Children's Hospital in Morgantown, WV has a full suite of pediatric operating rooms, cardiac catheterization lab/interventional radiology, pulmonary, imaging department, and GI-endoscopy with dedicated pediatric anesthesia staff. The hospital includes 34 pediatric beds, a level 4 NICU (only in the State) with 54 beds, 15 PICU beds, a Children's Heart Center including 8 CICU beds, a dedicated Cancer Institute, an Emergency Department and Rapid Care. WVU Medicine Children's is a Level 2 Pediatric Trauma Center, with plans to become Level 1, as it is for adults currently. The Birthing Center houses a 30-bed obstetrical unit and maternal-fetal medicine clinic. J. W. Ruby Memorial Hospital is the only hospital in West Virginia with a pediatric cardiac surgery program, the only epilepsy monitoring unit in the state equipped to serve children, and the only hospital in the state to receive Magnet status for nursing excellence.
