Job Description

An ESS Cafeteria Monitor's functions are to closely supervise and assist students during their lunch and recess periods. The primary goal is to facilitate a safe and positive environment for students to enjoy their recreation time.


Responsibilities

  • Meet students at the designated locations for indoor or outdoor recess.
  • Closely supervise students at all times.
  • Work from your designated station during recess and circulate the cafeteria to assist students during lunch - monitors should not congregate as a group.
  • Place emphasis on allergy management, completing the meal, and positive interactions amongst students - student allergy and health concern information will be provided.
  • Check daily for students that are not allowed recess or have restrictions for dietary or physical needs.
  • Take the radio from the office before going outside to communicate any emergency situations.
  • Encourage appropriate behavior and interactions; refer students to the office when necessary and report any incidents to the student's teacher via a note.
  • Demonstrate cooperation and flexibility in performing other related duties as assigned by school administration and ESS
  • Understand and adhere to all ESS and school district policies and procedures


Qualifications

  • A minimum of high school diploma or GED
  • Pennsylvania State Police Clearance
  • Child Abuse Clearance
  • FBI Fingerprinting
  • School Health Form: Physical and Tuberculosis Test
  • Pennsylvania Department of Education Form 6004: Arrest/Conviction Report and Certification
