Job Description:

Broadcom's Mainframe Software Division (MSD) is looking for an excellent software engineer with a passion for building high quality applications using agile practices to join our development team.

Mainframe systems are at the heart of the digital economy, with 80% of the world's structured corporate data residing or originating on mainframes, and 55% of all enterprise applications hitting the mainframe to complete transactions. Our industry-leading products are critical to many Fortune 1000 companies.

We are expanding the team to work on the support and automated creation of demo, development and workshop environments and looking for exceptional candidates with strengths in z/OS system programming/ administration along with experience in modern DevOps technologies.

This position is responsible for implementing and supporting 'environment as a code' solutions for z/OS, running on virtual mainframe instances in hybrid cloud.

The Software Engineer 4 will perform zOS System programmer will have a strong focus on automating workloads. Other activities: z/OS system libraries customization, product installation, customization and maintenance, IPLs, probem analysis and resolution, customer problem analysis and resolution, system configuration support, security database administration, basic storage configuration, network definitions

The person in this role is expected to act as a technical mentor, advising, mentoring and coaching more junior engineers and partnering with stakeholders such as Product Owners, Solution Architects etc.

Responsibilities

  • Work collaboratively within an Agile Team to analyze and translate business requirements and perform complex tasks independently
  • Identify areas of improvement, design and implement automation of system programmer workloads
  • Perform system customization, product installation and maintenance
  • Actively communicate and collaborate within the team and across functional boundaries.
  • Improve the overall skill level of the team by mentoring / teaching / coaching.

Requirements

  • Excellent knowledge of z/OS operating system architecture, administration and operation z/OS and USS
  • Programming background with languages such as Groovy, Python, Bash, SQL, Java, and perl.
  • Experience with supporting build systems (e.g., Jenkins), SCM systems (e.g., GIT), repositories (e.g., Artifactory), containers (e.g., Docker) and virtual machines (e.g., VMWare)
  • Knowledge of z/OS software installation, customization and maintenance
  • Knowledge of DB2
  • Knowledge of Networking concepts and configuration - VTAM, TCPIP
  • Ability to work with RACF or TSS, ACF2
  • Good communication skills.

  • z/VM, zVDT, zD&T
  • Experience with CICS, MQ
  • Broadcom (CA Products)
  • ISV product installation, customization, license management
  • REXX
  • z/OSMF, ZOWE
  • TOMCAT
  • Certificates and TOKEN setup
  • Dump reading

Overall experience: Bachelor's and 8+ years of related experience, or Master's degree and 6+ years of related experience, or Ph.D. and 3+ years of related experience required

Compensation and Benefits

The annual base salary range for this position is $91,200- $152,000

This position is also eligible for a discretionary annual bonus in accordance with relevant plan documents, and equity in accordance with equity plan documents and equity award agreements.
