Job Summary

The Engineer III is responsible for performing design and analysis work to support the development of structural steel and concrete technical documents for a diverse range of projects, primarily in the industrial sector.

The preferred location for this role is Pittsburgh, PA.

Essential Functions

  • Actively supports the Company's commitment to safety and its "Core Values."

  • Coordinates and manages external resources to ensure consistent quality and delivery of work product.
  • Coordinates tasks and work with entry level engineers, designers, or administrative staff.
  • Assists in determining schedule and budget requirements.
  • Prepares project documents including calculations, drawings, and specifications.
  • Prepares sketches and coordinates with Designers/Drafters in the development of 3D models and 2D design drawings.
  • Performs field activities, such as observing and documenting existing conditions and taking field measurements in a variety of environments.
  • Assists with PM, client, customer contacts and communication pertaining to specific assignments or meetings.
  • Performs other related duties, as directed.

      Qualifications

      • BS in Civil or Structural Engineering required; MS degree preferred. Professional Engineer (PE) or Structural Engineer (SE) registration preferred.
      • 5+ years related engineering experience, preferably in structural steel and concrete design of industrial facilities such as gas plants, liquid terminals, LNG facilities, chemical plants, and bulk material handling facilities.
      • Advanced knowledge of strength of materials, mechanics, and structural analysis.
      • Proficient in the use of STAAD or similar structural design and analysis software.
      • Knowledge of codes and standards relevant to structural steel and concrete design (AISC 360, ACI 318, ASCE 7, IBC, etc.).
      • Proficient in Microsoft Word and Excel.
      • Cooperates with other team members; interacts with individuals at all organizational levels in professional manner.
      • Exhibit excellent listening, oral and written communication skills.
      • Demonstrates strong organizational skills and ability to work on multiple tasks simultaneously under time sensitive deadlines.
      • Occasional overtime may be required.
      • Travel to job sites and client visits as needed. International travel may be required in some cases to support department operations. Total travel is estimated at 15%.
