Job Description
BASIC FUNCTION:

Leads the Red Giant Oil Accounting team that conducts complex accounting assignments which are compliant with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles and company policies/practices.

ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES: (functions considered essential as defined by ADA)

Responsibilities:

  • Oversees day-to-day accounting operations over specific areas
  • Oversees the General Ledger and reviews ledger transactions processed
  • Supervises and monitors timely completion of closing responsibilities
  • Supervises and monitors the performance of the monthly physical inventories and inventory valuations using the applicable site specific costing methodology
  • Supervises the completion of and reviews monthly reconciliation of the general ledger
  • Reviews financial data being prepared and analyzed by the staff
  • Prepares accurate and timely financial statements and financial reports
  • Provides continuous oversight and support of budget and forecast activities
  • Coordinates Accounting backup to ensure adequate coverage for staff absences
  • Reviews and monitors internal controls for effectiveness
  • Supervises and completes special projects as required
  • Oversees and adjusts staff priorities in order to efficiently meet internal deadlines
  • Provides professional development and support to staff
  • Acts as an accounting information resource to staff and to other departments and locations

Special assignments or tasks assigned to the employee by their manager, as determined from timeto time in their sole and complete discretion.

EXPERIENCE:
  • A minimum of seven years of related experience is required.
  • Prior lead or supervisory experience preferred.
EDUCATIONAL LEVEL:

A minimum of a Bachelor's Degree in Accounting or a related field is required.

PREFERRED EDUCATIONAL LEVEL:

A Master's Degree or CPA designation is preferred.

REQUIRED SKILLS:
  • Ability to perform complex accounting analysis.
  • Strong knowledge of Microsoft products.
  • A broad understanding of accounting practices and procedures is required.
  • Intermediate skills in Microsoft Excel and Word.
  • Ability to manage projects and assignments with extreme accuracy and efficiency.
  • Advanced reading and writing skills, ability to effectively communicate with others, both in written and verbal communication.
  • Perform advanced mathematical calculations.
  • Detail oriented with strong analytical and proven problem-solving skills.
PREFERRED SKILLS:

Experience with SAP ERP is preferred.

SUPERVISORY/MANAGERIAL RESPONSIBILITIES:

Must be able to lead and supervise a small group of exempt employees.

WORK CONDITIONS:

Office based with up to 10% travel by land and air required. Driver based environment. Subject to all weather and varying weather conditions. May be required to work flexible hours.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

Job conditions require sitting, twisting, stooping, crouching, kneeling, talking or hearing, making visual inspections, perceiving color differences, making precise hand and finger movements, reaching or grasping, ability to operate and drive all assigned company vehicles at company standard insurance rates is essential, and valid State driver's license and proof of insurance required. Job conditions may require standing, walking, lifting and/or carrying up to 40lbs, pushing and/or pulling up to 40lbs.
