Summary:

Responsible for material disposition to improve quality and maximize product flow in a timely manner. Determine corrective actions for discrepant product, and disposition material to respective operations for on-time delivery. Observe product to evaluate for possible defects and determine actions to improve quality and product flow. Interface with internal customers and suppliers on quality related issues. Adhere to Quality Management Systems including product quality, calibration records, and training documentation.

Essential Functions:

  • Responsible for material assessment and disposition of non-conforming product. Requires knowledge of customer requirements, delivery schedules, costs, material characteristics and equipment capabilities.
  • Observe material in the plant and report quality of non-conforming material including returned material, in-process material, and experimental products.
  • Evaluate product for quality to determine disposition of material.
  • Provide support to sales, applications, engineering, and operations to ensure efficient flow of material.
  • Submit customer offers to inside sales.
  • Assist in problem-solving initiatives.
  • Provide off-turn support including evenings and weekends as needed.
  • Perform Quality Observation Audits.
  • Maintain calibration records of calibrated measuring devices

Qualifications:

  • Associated degree in a technical or engineering field, or minimum of five years work experience in a manufacturing environment
  • Computer working knowledge with Microsoft Office and company-related systems
  • Highly motivated, organized with the ability to work as part of a team

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Prior experience in the metals industry.
  • Prior experience in a quality inspection role.

  • Detail-oriented
  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills
  • Strong decision-making and problem-solving skills
