Training and Development Manager

Penn United Technologies, Inc. is now seeking an experienced Training and Development Manager who has a passion for developing others in their careers and a demonstrated history of talent training. In this role, you would have the primary responsibility for planning and developing, directing and managing the training and development needs of the organization, ranging from entry-level skills and apprenticeship programs, basic supervisory program, mid-level management program, to customer training and community involvement.

Primary Responsibilities of the Training and Development Manager include:

  • Partner with all levels of company leadership to identify internal training needs, provide guidance for training initiatives, and opportunities for improvement.
  • Ensure our development programs provide the shop floor technical skills, managerial and subject matter expertise, and leadership acumen needed to support our business success.
  • Create and manage training programs designed for the training and career development of all shop floor, entry level supervisory, and mid-level management of Penn United Technologies.
  • Oversee the administration of apprenticeship training programs, to ensure effective subject matter content, communication, staffing, scheduling, resources, and instructor performance.
  • Assist with, and recommend future training development consistent with succession planning.
  • Deliver employee-owner training through group presentations, on-line learning tools, and facilitate coaching and mentoring programs.
  • Coordinate community involvement and partnerships with other institutions including area high schools, community colleges, trade schools, professional associations, and customers.
  • Coordinate with sales and operations teams to provide training for manufacturing customers. Oversee the administration of quoting, work order processing, and invoicing customer training.
  • Provide outcomes and feedback to leadership, and present opportunities for improvement in all aspects of our learning and development programs.
  • Identify financial funding opportunities, and submit grant proposals to reduce the cost of maintaining company programs.
  • Oversee the efficient administration and recordkeeping of all learning management activities.

Qualifications of the Training and Development Manager:

KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS

  • Passion for developing others using knowledge of manufacturing, effective learning methods, business and management principles, and leadership techniques.
  • Critical thinker who strives to maintain a commitment to quality in our programs while operating within cost efficiency parameters.
  • Proficient in technology for daily use and training delivery such as Microsoft Office Suite, applicable training platforms and Learning Management Systems (LMS), and current trends in staffing personality and skills assessments.
  • Excellent organizational skills, self-motivated, able to effectively prioritize multiple tasks.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills. Able to communicate difficult topic matter with tact and diplomacy.

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE

Required

  • Bachelor's Degree and minimum of 10 years' experience with learning and development in a corporate or related setting.
  • Experience with training/education system administration and curriculum development.
  • Willing to travel both locally for community training and otherwise, as needed.
  • Must possess and maintain a valid driver's license
  • Able to obtain necessary clearances for working with minors (Department of Human Services Child Abuse History, PA State Police Request for Criminal Records Check, Federal Criminal History Record Information)

DESIRED

  • Manufacturing experience in a related field such as machining, grinding, tool & die
  • Mechanical aptitude
