As Cloud FinOps Project Management Specialist will function within the Cloud Cost Management (Cloud FinOps) team within PPG's Cloud Center of Excellence. This team implements, oversees, and promotes policies and practices related to PPG's economic consumption across multiple cloud environments. You will provide services related to Global IT Infrastructure and cloud financials, including budgeting and forecasting, chargeback, capacity management, cost optimization and reporting. The Cloud FinOps Project Management Specialist will also lead small and medium sized projects ranging from low to medium complexity related to these services.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead small and medium sized projects to develop products and services related to cloud budgeting / forecasting, chargeback, capacity management, cost optimization and reporting.
- Lead cloud budget and forecast processes across the IT Organization
- Provide clear reporting on IT Infrastructure spend to all appropriate company partners and facilitating re-occurring meetings to review cost with important partners.
- Monitor cloud consumption at the cloud account level to quickly detect, investigate, and escalate anomalies and unplanned spikes.
- Analyze, and produce insights from cloud billing, usage and inventory tools.
- Direct and collaborate with Cloud Infrastructure and DevOps Engineers to track resource utilization, make recommendations on how to improve spend, and track savings.
- Develop, and maintain FinOps program-level reports and KPIs that provide visibility on spend across multiple clouds and allow partners at all levels to understand cloud spend trends and enable procurement discussions.
- Manage commitment-based discounts in multiple cloud environments.
- Promote best practices for cloud spend management.
- Mentor and direct activities of up to two junior Cloud FinOps Analysts
Qualifications
- BS degree in Computer Science, Information Systems Management, Engineering, Finance or equivalent experience
- Minimum 5 years of experience in an IT, Project Management or Finance related discipline
- Foundational understanding of cloud services in AWS and/or Microsoft Azure, and cost management practices
- Foundational understanding of core Finance principles and corporate accounting processes
- Basic understanding of project management methodology and best practices
- Experience with reporting technologies including Microsoft PowerBI
- Possess a current FinOps certification, or ability to attain within 6 months
- Possess a Foundational Cloud Certification in AWS or Azure, or ability to attain within 6 months
