Summary:
Shorenstein's Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Committee is sponsoring an intern in our Pittsburgh Property Management office. The Property Management and Construction (PM&C) Group is seeking candidates for a Summer 2024 Paid Internship. The PM&C Group is responsible for overseeing all aspects of daily operational and financial operations at our properties to maximize our return on investment.

The internship will be an eight-week program, four days a week (M-Th) for eight hours a day running from June 13th to August 8th, 2024. The position will be in-office with an hourly rate of $22.

The selected intern will gain hands-on experience in the Commercial Real Estate industry through exposure to a wide range of projects, team members and departments including Engineering, Leasing, Risk Management and Accounting. Job Requirements

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Complete tasks/projects as assigned by the General Manager and/or the property management team in the timeframes outlined.
  • Ask questions to clarify task, project, or timelines. Don't be reluctant to do so.
  • Notify General Manager and/or the property management team when task/project has been completed. Remain open to feedback.
  • Work collegially and professionally.
  • Be willing to do whatever job is given to you. "No job is too big. No job is too small."

Essential Skills & Qualifications:

  • Demonstrated commitment to diversity, equity and inclusion (**personal impact statement required as part of the application process; see details below**).
  • Current undergraduate students.
  • Excellent analytical and communication (written and verbal) skills.
  • Comfortable in Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook.
  • Ability to manage multiple responsibilities and meet deadlines with a high degree of quality and accuracy.
  • Strong organizational skills, work ethic, team-approach and detail-orientation required.
  • Interest in commercial real estate.

Potential projects could include:

  • Assist General Manager and/or the property management team with calculating expenses for the 2025 budget.
  • Assist General Manager and/or the property management team with reforecasting 2024 expenses.
  • Review terms on all service contracts and assist with contract bidding/renewal.
  • Review documents used for refinancing efforts (Evergreen files) to ensure that all are updated.
  • Complete sustainability initiatives audit to ensure compliance with sustainability program.
  • Review vendor sustainability requirements in contracts and follow up with vendors to ensure compliance.
  • Complete emergency preparedness audit to ensure compliance with emergency preparedness program. In conjunction with the audit of the emergency preparedness program, assist Property Management team with updating the fire warden program.
  • Review Angus Anywhere work order reports for response times and identify any potential trends. Review all completed billable work orders to ensure accuracy before closing.
  • Assist the Property Management team with the planning and execution of a tenant social event.

Salary Range:

  • $22.00 p/h
