Job Description
General Responsibilities:

Provide Geographic Information Systems (GIS) support to all Service Lines. Perform data acquisition, data management, data analysis and data visualization in support of projects and corporate initiatives. Determine appropriate data sources and methods, develop technical workflows and create technical maps, exhibits, and models to support project needs. Support field data collection efforts by providing and configuring appropriate tools to meet accuracy and attribution criteria. Responsible for ensuring the accuracy and currency of all geospatial project data and maintaining technical documentation and metadata, as appropriate. Ensure that all GIS deliverables meet a high level of quality and comply with corporate standards.

Studies and fields of focus that you may encounter in this position include: Archaeology, National Register of Historic Places, Streams and Wetlands, Threatened and Endangered Species, Asbestos and Lead Abatements, and Environmental Site Assessments. We utilize GIS on a variety of projects, including land use planning, infrastructure management, probability modeling, site feasibility evaluation, NEPA documentation, and natural and cultural resource management.

Essential Roles and Responsibilities:
  • Research, compile, and review spatial data from public and proprietary sources.
  • Perform GIS tasks following engineering/environmental design and operating procedures.
  • Create project GIS maps and exhibits.
  • Document project workflows, data sources, and data limitations.
  • Assist in the creation of advanced GIS products and data models.
  • Create and configure appropriate tools for field data collection based on project needs.
  • Perform field data collection, data transfer, and postprocessing.
  • Compile technical project data from various sources, including field notes and engineering plans.
  • Scan, georeferenced, and digitize hardcopy plans.
  • Develop GIS workflows, databases, and map products.
  • Assist in the creation and execution of automated GIS workflows in various development languages.
  • Follows safety rules, guidelines and standards for all projects. Participate in pre-task planning. Report any safety issues or concerns to management.
  • Be responsible for maintaining quality standards on all projects.
Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree in GIS, geography, environmental science, engineering, computer science or related field with a minimum 2 years' related experience. Or, in lieu of a degree, a minimum of 6 years' related experience.
  • Expertise with ESRI ArcGIS Pro and Extensions, ArcGIS Online and Extensions, and ArcGIS Enterprise is required.
  • Expertise with ESRI Apps (Field Maps, Experience Builder, StoryMaps, Web AppBuilder, Survey123, QuickCapture) is required.
  • Experience collecting and manipulating Arrow GNSS and Trimble GPS data.
  • Familiarity with relational databases and various programming languages (e.g. Python, C#, XML, JavaScript).
  • Familiarity with Microsoft Windows based operating systems and products.
  • This position will require an in-office presence with a hybrid, flexible schedule.
  • Valid driver's license with acceptable violation history.
