Job Description

Carnegie Mellon University seeks a Senior Robotics Engineer in Pittsburgh, PA, responsible for developing robotic systems and simulation tools to facilitate the validation and testing of robotic applications. Specific duties include: (i) designing, developing, and analyzing software and robotic subsystems/components; (ii) assembling, integrating and testing various robotic subsystems/components; (iii) documenting analysis, designing, and testing results; (iv) architecting robotic systems and designing high level subsystems interaction for automation applications; (v) interacting with customers to capture system specifications and define robotic system requirements; (vi) mentoring and coordinating a team of developers in the implementation of robotic solutions; (vii) developing computer vision algorithms for real world applications; (viii) developing data engineering tools and processes to support robotic applications; (ix) performing other R&D tasks, such as researching new algorithms; and (x) travelling to support field experiments in the field.

Must have a Bachelor's degree (or foreign equivalent) in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Mathematics or a related field and three (3) years of experience in the field of robotics, software or automation development.

Must have 3 years of experience with each of the following: (i) C++ development; (ii) scripting languages for quick prototyping of robotics algorithms, including Python; (iii) Linux development; (iv) developing robotics software; and (v) developing computer vision software.

Must also have 2 years of experience with: (i) Boost and OpenCV libraries; and (ii) implementing data engineering tools for managing log and labeled data and metadata.

Experience can be concurrent.
