HUMAN RESOURCES SPECIALIST

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES FOR THE HUMAN RESOURCES SPECIALIST

  • Under direct supervision, provides support to all locations in functional areas of Human Resources.
  • Responsible for hourly hiring support, disability tracking, leaves of absence, maintaining records in Workday
  • Responsible for personnel and employee relations records maintenance.
  • Responsible for managing Labor Relations functions of job bidding, USW vacations, grievance administration including adherence to time limits
  • Assist the Manager - Labor Relations with all Labor Relations functions.
  • Disseminates information via distribution of employee booklets, communications, and/or scheduling of employee meetings.
  • Prepares and maintains statistics and reports in conformance with legislated requirements or organization needs.
  • Perform all other duties and special projects as assigned.

REQUIRED FOR THE HUMAN RESOURCES SPECIALIST

  • High School Diploma required. College degree preferred.
  • Entry level position; one to three years human resources administration experience preferred.
  • Basic understanding of human resources policies and procedures.
  • Knowledge of positive employee relations and practices.
  • Flexibility when faced with frequently changing priorities.
  • Strong goal and results orientation; high energy.
  • Ability to operate a computer workstation.
  • Ability to organize and prioritize tasks.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Professional business writing skills.
  • Problem solving skills using existing procedures to solve routine or standard problems.
  • Customer Service Orientation.
