Environmental Science Intern

Penn United Technologies, Inc. is now accepting applications for a seasonal Environmental Intern for the 2024 summer. We are looking for a college student majoring in an Environmental management program who has completed a minimum of 3 years in that program and who is looking to enhance their classroom learning through a practical internship experience.

Penn United is a leader in our industry, providing the highest quality precision manufactured solutions for a variety of products and industries for over 52 years. Penn United Technologies currently employs over 700 people in our employee-owned precision manufacturing company, located about 35 miles northeast of Pittsburgh in Butler County.

Responsibilities:

  • Work daily to assist our EHS Manager with a sustainability project and other environmental projects which could include the following:
  • Inspect storm-water systems
  • Perform weekly waste inspections
  • Assist in shipping of wastes
  • Collect waste samples
  • Assist with other on-site environmental testing, such as air quality
  • Report to work on-time with a positive attitude and ready to learn and accomplish tasks.
  • Have a true desire and a focus toward your job.
  • Ask relevant questions and ask for help with processes or tasks not understood.
  • Communicate with your team members. Be open and honest in communications.
  • Implement and follow all safety, environmental and quality plans in accordance with company programs and policies.
Qualifications

Qualifications:

  • Must be currently enrolled in college majoring in an Environmental related program and preferably having completed 3 years in that program
  • Must have strong Microsoft office computer skills
  • The ability support project management such as use of Gannt charts
  • Must be able to lift over 20 lbs.
  • Must be able to move throughout the manufacturing building and outdoor settings
  • Must be in good academic standing at their school
  • Must possess strong attention to detail
  • This position is a seasonal daylight position

Interns are available to participate in our monthly profit-sharing program.
