Job Description

Carnegie Mellon University (CMU) is pleased to announce a national search for two Coordinators for Fraternity and Sorority Life. The newly-formed Office of Fraternity and Sorority Life is one over 20 departments within the Division of Student Affairs, and housed under the Community Life unit alongside Residential Education, First-Year Orientation, and Family Engagement.

Reporting to the Director of Fraternity and Sorority Life, the coordinators will work to support and enhance CMU's fraternity and sorority community, comprising of 4 governing councils, 22 national organizations, and over 1,100 members.

Your core responsibilities will include:

  • Serves as the primary advisor for one or more of the governing councils

  • Advises a portfolio of fraternity and sorority chapter(s) through a chapter coaching model, to be assigned based on the strengths and experiences of the departmental team members

  • Builds meaningful, genuine relationships with sorority and fraternity members, and chapter and council leaders

  • Oversees the chapter development program and compliance tracking for community expectations

  • Supports the planning and coordination of community-wide programs and initiatives

  • Develops and executes leadership education specific for the fraternity/sorority community

  • Works collaboratively with campus partners to offer a broad array of training, development, and educational programs and initiatives

  • Develops and executes programming to engage chapter alumni and family members of fraternity and sorority members

  • Coordinates and implements an annual communication plan for fraternity and sorority members, chapter leaders, advisors, and other stakeholders

  • Other duties as assigned

Qualifications

  • Master's degree in Higher Education, Student Affairs, or related field required. Those currently pursuing their Master's degree with an anticipated completion date in Spring/Summer of 2024 are invited to apply.

  • 1-3 years of experience working in higher education, fraternity/sorority headquarters, and/or equivalent field required; experience working with fraternity and sorority communities is preferred

  • A combination of education and relevant experience from which comparable knowledge is proven may be considered.

Additional Information:
  • Work Posture: This position is operating on a hybrid schedule, with an on-campus/in office presence 4 days a week.

  • Typical Work Schedule: Monday-Friday from 8:30-5:00pm. An alternate work schedule allowing for evening and weekend hours will be required on occasion.

  • Sponsorship: Applicants for this position must be currently legally authorized to work for CMU in the United States. CMU will not sponsor or take over sponsorship of an employment visa for this opportunity.
