Description

The School of Music at Carnegie Mellon University invites applications for an adjunct Instructor of Ethnomusicology position for the 2024-2025 school year.

  • We seek a colleague who can offer compelling courses of interest to undergraduate and graduate students in music as well as non-music majors from across campus. Generic area of research expertise is open, though successful candidate will be able to offer courses on ethnomusicological theory and method; courses on topics that include global popular music as well as local traditions.

  • The qualified candidate has developed innovative pedagogies that blend theory with practice and scholarship with creative work.

  • The teaching load is 1-course per semester.

Qualifications

The successful candidate will possess a PhD in ethnomusicology, although an ABD will be considered.
