Data Scientist II - Wagner Lab



The Data Scientist's primary responsibilities will include curating data, assessing data integrity, facilitating the use of effective data management tools, and analyzing clinical research data following traumatic brain injury and other acquired neurological injuries. This staff member should have proficient knowledge in at least one statistical software package (e.g. SAS) and some working knowledge of other packages (e.g. SPSS, R). The staff member should have some working knowledge of SQL database structure and strong working knowledge of versatile programming tools such as Python. The incumbent will interface with relevant stakeholders, providing input and directly supporting database upgrades, modifications, and expansions. The staff member will be involved in preparing results for presentation in the form of scientific posters, oral presentation, written manuscripts, and/or grant preparation. The staff member will also have opportunities to take a lead role with some projects in their portfolio with regard to lead authorship on projects that require participation and write up of data synthesis, interpretation, and discussion elements of specific manuscripts. Other responsibilities include training and supervising staff/students with respect to data visualization, data entry and reconciliation, maintaining clinical research databases, as well as support database, infrastructure, and other project management needs.

Pre HRCM Qualifications:
Master's degree with three to five years of experience required. No additional years of experience is required if individual has obtained applicable advanced educational training. Extensive relevant experience (8-10+ years with programming and statistical analysis knowledge) may be substituted for the advanced education requirement of Master's; specific fields of study applicable to this position are statistics, bioinformatics/data science, and applied mathematics.

Job Summary

Performs research, analysis, and modeling on organizational data and data sets utilizing advanced statistical methods to mine and analyze complex and unstructured data sets. Offers complex analysis and utilizes advanced algorithms and statistical software. Adheres to all protocols.
