The Student Insurance Advocate oversees and provides administrative leadership for the student health insurance plan (SHIP) offered to Miami University students through United Health Care Student Resources (UHCSR). This position is responsible for the operations related to the Miami University SHIP and will be a key member of a multi-disciplinary team committed to the holistic well-being of all Miami students. The Advocate serves as the key contact, liaison, factfinder, problem-solver, and advocate for students insured by UHCSR should issues or needs arise pertaining to the SHIP.
The Advocate also coordinates ongoing communication efforts between university administration, UHCSR, students, and other key constituents (i.e., parents).
The ideal candidate should be a self-motivated, strategic, and socially skilled catalyst for creating a healthier and more informed student body by leading awareness-building initiatives regarding health insurance and providing personalized support to students seeking direction regarding Miami's SHIP.
This position is full-time (40 hours/week) Monday - Friday. Employees are required to have flexibility to work any of our 8-hour shift schedules during our normal business hours of 8:00am - 5:00pm. It may be necessary, given the business need, to work occasional overtime and weekends. Our office is located at Miami University (OH) Clinical Health Sciences & Wellness Facility Health Services , 421 S. Campus Ave Oxford, OH 45056.
We offer weeks of on-the-job training. The hours during training will be 8:00am - 5:00pm, Monday - Friday.
