Job Description

As a PIM Product Taxonomist, you will be responsible for optimizing, managing and evangelizing the hierarchical arrangement of our product taxonomy, metadata schema, data governance, and value normalization within ourProduct Information Management System (PIM). The PIM Product Taxonomist will be pivotal in ensuring that the product taxonomy and schema in PIM serves the needs of multiple eCommerce customer portals and is the source of truth for product data across the enterprise.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Optimize and manage PIM taxonomy and its metadata schema, ensuring consistent and accurate mapping of product data across multiple systems.
  • Keep abreast of industry standards, best in class website architecture and relevant required and optional attributes that correspond with established taxonomies.
  • Proactively identify data model gaps and take appropriate actions to resolve.
  • Development of attributes & attribute values in accordance with best practices.
  • Develop and maintain documentation related to the taxonomy and ensure it is kept up to date.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to understand business requirements and ensure that the taxonomy aligns with business needs.
  • Evangelize taxonomy best practices to teams that leverage taxonomy including Search, SEO, IT and Marketing.

KNOWLEDGE/SKILL REQUIREMENTS

  • 3+ years of experience in taxonomy development and management with a firm understanding of best practices.
  • Thorough understanding of hierarchical product taxonomy structures, metadata schemas, data governance, and data modeling best practices.
  • Master's degree in library science or equivalent professional experience preferred.
  • PIM experience desired (InRiver, Salsify, Infomatica, etc.)
  • Ecommerce experience in a B2B or B2C environment
  • Detail-oriented professional with a passion for data management and product information.
  • Passionate researcher of diverse product categories and desire to develop best-in-class data standards.
  • Able to clearly communicate with people of different experience levels and backgrounds.
  • Manage multiple workstreams effectively to meet deadlines & the ability to work independently with minimal supervision
