The Research Technician will perform advanced experiments in a microbiology laboratory that are aimed at understanding bacteriophages and their infection of Mycobacterium hosts. In addition, the technician will compile DNA libraries and develop new and/or improved cloning methodologies. This includes addition of data and maintenance of databases for sequencing data. Responsible for oversight of operations and maintenance of the automated DNA sequencer. Assemble and analyze DNA sequencing information for potentialpublications.
Performs a variety of independent laboratory work and experiments such as determining experimental protocols and preparation of specimens and cultures. Prepares reports of findings subsequent to compilation and analyzation. Oversees specimen inventory. Develops documentation for publication; crafts manuscripts and grant proposals.
Aseptic technique and microbiology skills; math and analytical skills; bioinformatic analysis skills; requires advanced microbiological techniques and skills in pipetting liquid solutions.
Position will require standing 75% of the day.
