Health Sciences IT (HSIT) is seeking an Assistant Director for Applications and Development in Research IT. HSIT provides technology support for the six schools of the Health Sciences at the University of Pittsburgh. This position is a working manager in that they will develop and support end user projects and supervise the Applications and Development team. The candidate will design and develop custom applications to support research across the schools of the health sciences. The AD for Applications and Development must be able to listen to researchers and find gaps in existing processes and recommend and develop solutions to streamline research processes.
The incumbent must be a skilled web app developer using C#/.NET 6 or higher and React. The candidate must understand microservice architecture and how to build and secure APIs. The applications are typically hosted in Azure using serverless architecture with CI/CD pipelines. The incumbent will also support various third-party software products that are used across the schools of the health sciences. In some cases this will involve gathering API requirements during implementation and connecting to other university systems to pull in data from source systems. Experience working in Scrum/Agile environment is preferred. The ideal candidate will have 5 or more years of development experience with the above frameworks and some experience leading teams. Required skills are C#/.Net 7 and React and connecting to RDMS or NoSQL data backends with APIs and microservices. Experience with health data or applications and REDCap or OnCore are preferred but not required.
Oversees development, implementation, and maintenance of administrative applications. Establishes procedures and improves departmental practices and systems. Compiles data-driven, statistical reports for University use and develops complex local and web-based applications.
