Carnegie Mellon University is searching for a Program Coordinator of SLICE to join its dynamic team. The Program Coordinator facilitates the development of internal and external partnerships that provide impactful civic engagement experiences, facilitate belonging in both the university and Pittsburgh communities, and support students' basic needs. You will have the exciting opportunity to make a transformative impact in the lives of students through oversight of the CMU Pantry and PA Hunger-Free Campus Grant initiatives. You will support student learning and personal development through coordination of the Arts Pass cultural program and several large-scale civic engagement programs that impact over 500 students and ~15 community partners annually. Additionally, you will oversee the SLICE van program, inclusive of marketing, reservations, and maintenance, to facilitate civic engagement and student organization initiatives as well as exploration throughout the city.

In addition to partners across the university, you will work closely with SLICE colleagues overseeing student activities, student government, leadership, civic engagement, and operations to advance our forward-thinking mission to facilitate students' development of self and community as active global citizens. Core responsibilities will include:
  • Oversee day-to-day operations of the CMU Pantry annually serving over 2,000 students

  • Implement and report on CMU's $60,000 PA Hunger-Free Campus Grant-awarded initiatives

  • Ensure compliance with Allegheny County Health Department regulations

  • Supervise student Pantry Coordinators including running weekly Pantry Coordinator meetings, providing feedback and facilitating the CMU Grow program

  • Leverage partner expertise from Chartwells, Dining Services and the Greater Pittsburgh Community Food Bank to deliver innovative strategies to fight food insecurity

  • Educate students, faculty, and staff on food insecurity and related resources

  • Deliver holistic support to students facing the highest levels of food insecurity via connection to university and community resources

  • Activate the student support ecosystem to holistically support students' basic needs

  • Coordinate large-scale civic engagement initiatives such as the Rise Against Hunger meal packaging event, Thanksgiving Basket Drive, and Whatever Drive

  • Enhance students' relationship with the Pittsburgh community through partnerships with the Arts Pass museums and the SLICE van program

  • Manage and iterate on technology and software programs such as the Link2Feed system, Special Meal Plan application and the Arts Pass web interface

  • Develop systems to increase programmatic efficiency as well as accuracy in data collection

  • Assess the CMU Pantry and other programmatic offerings

  • Manage programmatic budgets amounting to over $500,000

  • Other duties as assigned

You should demonstrate:
  • Proven track record to champion an innovative and collaborative work environment

Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree required

  • 1-3 years of experience working with students, program coordination, project management, non-profit experience, or other relevant experience

  • Ability to regularly lift 40 pounds unassisted

  • A combination of education and relevant experience from which comparable knowledge is demonstrated may be considered.

Requirements:
  • Successful Background Check

  • Must currently hold and maintain a current valid US driver's license, have a minimum of two years of driving experience, and no major driving violations within the last two years

  • This position is eligible for the university's flexible work arrangement policy.

  • As an exempt position, some weekend and evening hours will be required based on programmatic needs
