An Environmental Engineering Specialist in the Sewage Planning Section is assigned projects involving the review of Water Quality Management applications for permits to construct sanitary sewer treatment systems and conveyance systems. In this position, you will also develop effluent limitations to insert into NPDES permits to comply with federal and state regulations. The engineer will also review NPDES permit applications for the spreading of bio-solids and the discharge from municipal separate storm sewer systems.
If this position has been filled as an Environmental Engineering Trainee, you will serve a 12-month training period. During this training period, there will be a greater oversight of the employee's duties, formal training, and on-the-job training to perform the environmental engineering duties and implement the objectives of the Clean Water Program. You may also participate in the review of ACT 537 plans to address all the sewage needs of an individual municipality.
