Job Description

In this position, the successful candidate will lead cybersecurity assessment and mitigation of the automated chemistry systems by applying the Risk Management Framework cybersecurity control sets, assessing compliance, identifying mitigation and resolution to risks while considering operational impacts, and authoring cybersecurity assessment packages for system accreditation as the Subject Matter Expert and Information System Security Officer (ISSO). A secondary responsibility for this position is to provide IT technical support of the chemistry systems during design and testing. Both the cybersecurity and IT roles include hands-on cybersecurity and IT system integration testing in laboratories equipped with prototypic system hardware, software, and network connections, to ensure the system configuration is secure as well as operational.

Required Combination of Knowledge and Skill
Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university and a minimum of 2 years of relevant experience; or Master's degree from an accredited college or university in a related field and a minimum of 1 year of relevant experience.
Preferred Skills

Familiarity or experience with:

  • Performing risk analysis relative to information systems with strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Completing Security Authorization Packages
  • Risk Management Framework package development
  • Assessing a variety of IT and non-IT hardware/software systems against Federal Government security regulations and standards such as NIST and DISA STIGs
  • The management, maintenance, support, and administration of a Microsoft Windows environment including peripherals
  • Basic hands-on troubleshooting of IT hardware, network configuration management, infrastructure architecture, system administration, network protocols, etc.
  • GRC tools (e.g., RSA Archer) and basic network troubleshooting tools (e.g., Putty, Wireshark, etc.)
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Demonstrated can-do proactive approach that displays self-motivation, commitment ownership, and personal accountability.

Pay Range
$76,400.00 - $117,000.00 annually
Salary information provided is a general guide line only. Annual salary is based upon candidate experience and qualifications, as well as market and business considerations

The Naval Nuclear Laboratory is operated for the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) by Fluor Marine Propulsion, LLC (FMP), a wholly owned subsidiary of Fluor Corporation.
