MILSATCOM Systems Integrator

Key Role:

Transition new systems and capabilities, facilitate modernization and enhancements for legacy systems, and maximize cross-program efficiencies internal to the current portfolio. Explore military and commercial capabilities in the industry, understand the technical aspects of integrating these capabilities to existing military infrastructure, and provide recommendations to the government customer for potential contract actions with the end state of building a more resilient portfolio of space-based telecommunications. Serve as an integral part in the development of the Roadmap and Integrated Master Schedule (IMS), capturing new MILSATCOM and COMSATCOM capabilities due to transition to operations and sustainment in the next 10 years. Support an effort that is expected to result in efficiencies which lower total life-cycle sustainment costs, recognize quantifiable benefits to Joint and Allied warfighters, and increase overall combat readiness. Assist in the transition of new MILSATCOM capabilities into operations and sustainment and explore new COMSATCOM capabilities that may be available for DoD use. Research new system capabilities, understand operational benefits and impacts to the warfighter, and identify technical requirements as mapped to operational need across the space system, including spacecraft, mission C2, uplinks, downlinks, networks, and user terminals. Highlight enterprise-wide risks and opportunities to affect the transition of new capabilities and identification of program, technical and process interdependencies within the MILSATCOM portfolio. Facilitate a smooth integration of MILSATCOM capabilities to the greater MILSATCOM enterprise and critically identify programmatic and technical shortfalls. Identify "gaps and seams" related to technical data and artifacts required for efficient and effective operations and sustainment activities. Create a resolution plan for technical blockers, issues, and concerns associated with capabilities post-transition to operations. Coordinate with other government and contractor stakeholders to integrate new capabilities into established systems engineering (SE) and test and evaluation (T&E) processes, procedures, and tools. Identify MILSATCOM systems at End-of-Life (EOL) and coordinate with respective Program Managers and Lead Engineers to plan and execute obsolescence and disposition.

Basic Qualifications:

  • 15+ years of engineering experience across multiple projects within a diverse portfolio

  • 10+ years of experience working with military or DoD civilian clients and managing professional relationships

  • 5+ years of experience with MILSATCOM systems in the RF spectrum

  • Experience in establishing and maintaining positive customer relations

  • Experience with MS Office 365 products, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, Teams, and Project

  • Knowledge of MILSATCOM and DoD mission system sustainment

  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints, line drawings, and schematics

  • Ability to produce technical Statement of Works (SOW), Bill of Materials, test plans, and procedures

  • Secret clearance

  • Bachelor's degree in Physics, Computer Science, or a Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics (STEM) field

  • Experience with contracts development in support of SSC or CGM programmatics

  • Experience working in a multi-contractor environment

  • Knowledge of COMSATCOM systems in the RF spectrum

  • Possession of excellent oral and written communication skills

  • International Council on Systems Engineering (INCOSE) or Certified Systems Engineering Professional (CSEP) certification or higher
