Planned Parenthood of Greater Ohio is seeking a mission-minded Associates to join us as full time (37.5 hours per week) Primary Care Clinician to serve our patients at our Franklinton Health Center.

SUMMARY

Act as part of the medical services team providing comprehensive primary care, which includes sexual and reproductive care. Practices within the state of Ohio Board of Nursing (OBON) scope of practice for an Advanced Practice Registered Nurse (APRN). Provides direct patient care including history review, health education, physical exam, counseling, diagnosis, and treatment according to protocols. Participates in accomplishing patient-focused goals. Provides referrals and participates in follow-up. Consults with Regional Lead Clinician, VP of Clinical Services, and/or Chief Medical Officer to ensure compliance with guidelines. Participates in Risk and Quality Management program, clinician meetings and other agency and health center meetings and trainings as required.

WHAT YOU WILL DO

  • Obtains a comprehensive relevant health, social, and medical history. Formulates a diagnosis/differentials based on the history, physical examination, and diagnostic test results and information. Orders and interprets diagnostic tests as appropriate.
  • Provides patient education to facilitate optimal patient outcomes.
  • Prescribes medications as needed.
  • Develops and implements treatment plans.
  • Manages patient follow up appropriately per policy.
  • Monitors the effectiveness of therapeutic interventions.
  • Ensures a lens of health equity when evaluating outcomes and patient experience.
  • Establishes plan of care and implements interventions in accordance with current evidence-based guidelines (Up-To-Date and universal guidelines).
  • Consults with other physicians or CMO as needed. Refers patients when care needs are beyond the nurse practitioners' scope of practice and knowledge proficiency.
  • Contributes to the educational development of staff, patients, and self to promote a culture of learning.
  • Supports productivity goals in collaboration with the practice manager and leadership and maintains communication with supervisor(s) about barriers in achieving these goals. Reviews PPFA/PPGOH Medical Standards and Guidelines and remains up to date with changes in guidelines and policies related to patient care and health center operations.
  • Attends staff meetings, and trainings as directed.
  • Monitors and ensures compliance with OSHA, CLIA, state laws, policies and regulations.
  • Advances own professional development through self-directed learning, continuing education, and participation in peer review.
  • Works collaboratively with colleagues to provide patient centered, team based care.

WHAT YOU WILL BRING:

  • Requires education commensurate with Ohio licensure requirements for practice as an APRN
  • Must have current Ohio nursing license, and certificate of authority
  • At least 1 year of previous experience providing comprehensive primary care
  • Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) and Basic Life Support (BLS) certification that is compliant with American Red Cross or American Heart Association is required
  • Maintenance of board certification and state licensure at all times is required
  • Must obtain and maintain a Drug Enforcement Agency (DEA) license
